The Neighbors' Day began to be celebrated in 2000 in Paris as a reaction to the growing alienation and as a reminder that people are not alone in the world, and that good interpersonal relationships are very important for the life of the community.

After that, over time, it grew into World Neighbors' Day and is celebrated on the last Friday in May.
